Ballincollig Business Expo a Big Success

November 16, 2009

It was great to participate in the well attended Ballincollig Business Expo, last Thursday. It was a chance for businesses to meet and get to know each other, as well as being the first significant step in developing a strategy to help ease Ballincollig through this recession.
I met some very interesting business people there and I will be highlighting some of them on this website and on shopballincollig.com. Indeed, check out the new gift shop Red Balloon, owned by Jenny Murphy.

I thought it might be a good idea to video some of the talks, to give those businesses, who didn’t attend a sense of what was discussed. Apologies for the darkness of the videos, but the sound came out well, which is the main thing. The first video above, is of County Mayor Derry Canty, who complimented the business association for their speedy organisation of the event, and spoke with some optimism about the prospects of the Ballincollig business community, culminating with a call to the public to support Ballincollig Business by spending locally this Christmas.

The following was an interesting talk about the Bank of Ireland ‘Enterprise Builder’ Program, which involves free mentoring sessions with some top business people.

One of the key things I got out of the night was the feedback from the Ballincollig business survey, which came up with some interesting objectives for the Business Association. I hope to have that video ready for you, in the next few days.
